Will you make my boots or shoes from a finished hide that I provide?

A: Many different leathers make up into wonderful shoes and boots and can be an extremely personal gift when made from your own hides. You must first send us your hide so we can determine if the hide would be adequate to make the style requested. The tannage, size, and quality of the leather determines whether it will be usable or not. The average pair of shoes requires approximately 3 to 4 square feet of leather. A boot requires 5 to 6 square feet. All leather not used in making your shoe will be returned. As for the cost: it will be the same price of the style of shoe or boot you request, as a customer-supplied hide requires special attention.

Can you get exotic leathers others than those listed?

A: We will certainly entertain requests for exotic leather species and colors that are not listed on our site. There are indeed many exotic leathers available, but because of limited availablilty and price fluctuations, we do not feature them in our line-up of standard exotics. Call or email with your request and we’ll see if we can get it.

How best to care for my WillyMocs?

A: Your WillyMocs are easy to care for. Keep them clean and periodically use a quality leather protector. If your shoes get wet, let them air dry to maintain the supple flexibility of the leather.

Do you recommend a leather protector?

A: We carry a leather protector that is an excellent product formulated to protect all leathers from water spotting, grease spotting, soiling, scuffing, discoloration and dirt build-up. It penetrates easily and helps maintain the suppleness and durability of your moccasins. When used regularly, it is an excellent water repellant and will prolong the beauty and life of your moccasins. Contact us to order a jar (4oz). Cost: $20.00. Note: Not for use on suede.

Please detail the rubber Vibram® sole option.

A: Because of numerous customer requests, we have an option for a Vibram® rubber sole to be added to your moccasins or boots. The rubber sole provides better traction on snow and in wet conditions. It does not really wear any longer than our double leather sole and we replace them at about the same rate as our leather soles. Know that a rubber sole also adds a bit more stiffness to the shoe, decreasing the “barefoot feel” of the custom-made shoe and adds to the break-in time.

What is the best way to get my WillyMocs repaired?

A: A pair of WillyMocs with a handsewn sole is not like standard factory footwear. They are meticulously hand crafted and provide years of enjoyable wear, but a new sole may eventually be needed. Provided the leather has been well maintained and is in good condition, your handmade WillyMocs can be resoled. Because the construction and hand sewing are not familiar to many shoe repair shops, we urge you to send your shoes back to us for a rebuild and refurbishment. For health and safety reasons, please clean your moccasins before sending them to us for a resole.

Please include a note with the shoes when you send them to us that specifies what needs to be done. Include your name, address, phone number and the best time to call. We strive to get repairs completed as soon as possible, but it may take up to 3 weeks, as we are building other shoes.

If you have a pair of double-soled moccasins purchased for another source in need of repair or resole, we would be glad to take a look and rebuild them if possible.

How long does it take to make my WillyMocs?

A:Once we charge your credit card and begin building your shoes, expect shipment in about 4 weeks.

What about hard-to-fit and deformed feet?

A: Working with careful measurements, tracings, and even photographs, we have successfully made shoes for customers with hard-to-fit feet. We take great pleasure in putting those who suffer through the discomfort and pain of ill-fit mass produced shoes into a pair of custom-fit, baby-soft WillyMocs.

Payment types accepted?

A: We accept VISA, MC, Discover, American Express, money orders and personal checks (personal checks are cleared before we begin the order).

What about international orders?

A: International orders must be paid in US funds (credit card). All orders must include complete address and telephone number, including country code. You are responsible for all duties, customs charges and taxes.
